The Great Avon Bike Parade

July 3, 2021
10:00 a.m. step-off at the Pool
(Holiday open swim hours – 7/3, 7/4, 7/5 :  11:00 a.m. -6:00 p.m.)

It’s the City’s 4th annual Fourth of July Bike Parade! Decorate your bike, scooter, wagon, tricycle, etc. and come celebrate America!  The parade begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. at the Avon Pool.  The short and safe one-mile parade features both a police and fire escort.  After the parade, enjoy icy popsicles, food trucks, bounce houses and music.  All participants will receive one complimentary weekday admission to the Avon Pool (Good July 3 through end-of-season).

Bring the kids to the pool for Story Time!  The Library will have someone on-site to read to pool patrons during rest hours from 12:45 – 2:15!

AVON LIBRARY FREE DAY @ THE POOL:  Friday, August 6, 2021  |  11:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Your library card is your admission pass to the Avon Pool!  Just present your Lorain Public Library card at the front desk (through 3:00 p.m.) and you’ll swim for free!

 

Adult Coached Swim Workout

Mondays
June 15 – August 2

6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

August 9 – 23
Sessions start at 5:00 p.m.

$3 for Members (per workout)
$6 for Non-Members (per workout)
(Pay at front desk each session.)

Swim workouts for adults under the direction of a coach.  Conditioning, stroke drills, goal setting and more.  For adults who can swim about 500 yards or more in one hour.  For fitness or competitive swimmers, and triathletes.

Advisor: Judi Norton, Certified USMS Level 2 Coach, over 30 years experience.

Spring Board Diving Class

Ages 9 and older
Swim Requirement:  25 yds + ability to tread water
One-meter Duraflex diving boards.

2 Sessions  |  6 Classes per Session  |  2 Class Levels

Instructor:  Dennis Dyke and staff, diving coach for two local high schools

Class 9:30a – 10:25a Introductory
Class 10:30a – 11:25a Novice

Session 2
Wednesday, Friday & Saturday
Aug 28, 30, 31 & Aug 4,6, 7

Class 9:30a – 10:25a Novice
Class 10:30a – 11:25a Introductory

9:30a Class – Introductory Session for Beginning Divers
Will cover the fundamental skills of diving: Approach, hurdle, executing forward and back dives with twists & flips, entry and more.

10:30a Class – Novice and for Those with Some Experience in Competitive Diving and/or Teens
Will refine skills to improve approach, quality and degree of difficulty of dives. Introduce additional competitive dive options.

The Cleveland Water Polo Club practices and scrimmages at the Avon Pool every Sunday from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.  All newcomers welcome!  (Open to both men & women)
